Logo
Main Figure
I'm making a logo so it can go on to both social media pages, and as the art work for my podcast. Once I had an idea of what wanted for my logo, I decided to experiment with the idea and get feedback on it which is described in my research. After my research in regards to the logo I decided I would experiment with the same idea just different colours and sizes. The figure is actually a photo of me which I had taken at work, the idea came from looking into the Adam buxton logo. It is simplistic and shows you who the host is. I decided I would follow a similar idea: which can been seen below in idea 1 and idea 2. I've got a lot of compliments about idea 2 from graphic design teachers, uni students and my superior at work. My preference is also the second idea. In my research it was also exposed that the colour combination of number three is of preference by the 16 people who answered the questioner.
Typography
I first researched a range of hand written fonts using the website 1001 fonts. 1001 fonts is a free font site which you can use without the worry of copy righting or spending money on a font.
I decided on a range of typography that I really like. As explained in my research, I really wanted to make the typography hand written (Script) because I personally enjoy the personal touch of a handwritten logo. I also feels as though it allows far away intimacy between the host of the show and the audience. However, if the hand written style didn't look clear or aesthetically pleasing. After receiving and analysing my research it was concluded that type face opinion five (also known as Chewed Pen BB in an Italic style), was the preferred typography. It is clear and playful which I really like. I also think it is the clearest to my own hand writing, which was the aim without having to use a touch pad. I have no experience with touch pads, so I will be sticking with option 5 (Chewed Pen BB in an Italic style) Sadly I could not download the type face to my laptop so I decided to instead take selected screen shots of the type with the two slogans I need for my project. As you can see below. |
Final Product Elements
Production process and the final product:
Episode Art Work:
I decided that each episode deserved its own visual trigger through the use of episode artwork. The artwork of each episode needs to describe what the episode will be about through very simple visuals. This was done through the use of generic silhouettes that I associate with the podcast topics. I also decided to use the same colors and typography so that my graphic style is consistent through the project, so that you can identify that the podcast episodes are in the "Shit I learnt in my youth" series. As you can see below here are my final concepts. I also feel as though it will be easier for the audience to pick topics they want to listen to without having to listen to the episode. Decisions regarding the design have been clarified in the pre production section. (the active link is to the left)
