The Idea
Exploring Ideas
Idea One: I was considering making an expository documentary focusing on Dyslexia, and different people who are affected by it and how they adapt to everyday life. This documentary would focus on the help available for people with dyslexia and the participant's experiences. The documentary would probably run to about 10 minutes.
Idea Two: It again would be a documentary in the mode of expository. Knife crime in London and how it has increased in the last year. Especially in my local area. I've decided to steer away from this project due to the time constraints. I would have to spend a lot of time accurately researching the project because I do not have prior knowledge on the topic, also the topic is extremely sensitive and thats something I'm not sure I'd be able to bring to this project.
Idea Three: It would be a participatory documentary interview people who live with daily mental health issues and how they deal with it in their daily lives. I feel as though this project would be a good topic if I wanted to make a product that was serious. I'm looking to make a product that has comedic undertones and something that'll teach people about thing's I feel as though my generation deal with. Even though 20% of adolescents will experience a mental health issue, I wouldn't be able to approach the topic in the style I aim to accomplish with the FMP. I'm sure theirs a way to do it, but as someone who has mental health issues I'm fed up with being mocked in main stream media, so I've decided I'm not going to be part of the problem.
Idea Four: Is a podcast series based on "Shit I've learnt in my youth", this would focus on different aspects of things I've learnt over the last three years. Things like for uni, balancing work and becoming the best version of yourself. I will do this in both an educational and comedic way to draw in my target audience which would be people aged 18-25. I've also learnt appropriate skills like learning Logic X pro and using professional recording studio equipment because of the sounds bites I did for unit 9 and 12. I found that I feel more comfortable behind a mixing desk then I do a camera.
It also is influenced by the fact that in the university I'm applying to they work on producing podcasts as a form of new media and I feel as though this is something I've always wanted to explore.
The idea I'm more interested in creating is the podcast idea. I feel as though podcasting is incredibly popular and will continue to rise in popularity. I also haven't experience podcasting or radio broadcasting. So it will allow me to have fun with a project whilst learning a new skill I really want to gain. It will also allow me to do a different form of journalism, as I will interview people on topics from the podcasting. For instance, with the Uni podcast, I will get in contact with a university student to give a real account of what being at university is really like, and not what the brochures tell our parents.

Final Idea and Planning.
I've decided to make a podcast because the format is becoming a very popular format for journalists to explore and investigate an idea/ ideology with a niche group of people who share similar experiences and opinions that the podcast is showcasing. Or for those that are just interested in the topic. I will be making a podcast series, which will last for five episodes. They'll last around ten minutes each (but that's yet to be decided) and will be released every week, the show will be called "Thing's I learnt in 2017" each episode will include a guest.
As you can see below, here is a general idea and my aims for the different sections of the project.
